Connect SimplyAP to Azure & BC for Single Sign-on

Introduction

Single sign-on (SSO) is an important feature for businesses that want to make it easier for their employees to access their applications. With SSO, users can log in to all their applications with a single set of credentials, eliminating the need to remember multiple usernames and passwords.

SimplyAP is a cloud-based software solution that provides users with an easy-to-use interface for managing their business processes. To enable SSO with SimplyAP, customers must first connect SimplyAP to their Azure instance. This integration will allow users to access SimplyAP with their Azure credentials, eliminating the need to remember multiple usernames and passwords. Also, with SSO users will be able to seamlessly log into Business Central and SimplyAP with the same credentials.

The process for configuration will require completing the following two steps:

  1. Add SimplyAP OIDC Azure application to Microsoft Azure Direcoty
  2. Add SimplyAP by Paymerang extension from the Microsoft Appsource to BC instance and set permissions.

1. Add SimplyAP OIDC to Azure

The integration settings for SimplyAP and Azure are easy to set up. To get started, users must first deploy the SimplyAP OIDC application that is published on the Azure Marketplace.

From the administration sections go to Integration settings

The Integration Settings page opens to Default Mode. Default Mode is recommended for users who are new to the integration process. Clicking on the “Add SimplyAP to Azure” button will prompt for authentication with your Azure credentials and then deploy or request to deploy the SimplyAP OIDC application in Microsoft Azure.

Note: The SimplyAP OIDC application will require Azure administrative permissions in order for the application to be deployed. Microsoft Azure will notify the administrator of the request for the application to be deployed if you do not have the proper Azure permissions.

Instance Name Setting

By default, SimplyAP will set the Business Central Instance Name to “Production”. However, this can be changed by typing in the name of your BC instance. It is required that the Business Central Instance Name correctly match the BC Instance you wish to utlize.

2. Installing & Configuring SimplyAP Business Central Extension

Set up the SimplyAP Extension and Azure AD application in Business Central.

Install SimplyAP Extension

In Business Central, navigate to the Extension Marketplace and install the SimplyAP by Paymerang extension.

  • Search for and select Extension Marketplace
  • Search for SimplyAP and select SimplyAP, published by Paymerang.

Set Permissions for the SimplyAP Extension

  • Set the state to: Enabled
  • Set permissions to the following:
