Paymerang is Thankful for the Opportunity to Volunteer at FeedMore
This year has been exceptionally unpredictable and uncertain – which is why we are extremely grateful for the opportunity our team had to take some time to give back and support our community by volunteering at Feed More.
For the past three years, our team has regularly participated in Feed More’s backpack program. It’s always a positive and uplifting experience and this time was no exception.
Feed More’s programs are dedicated to providing healthy meals and hope for a better tomorrow to Central Virginians who face hunger.
With the support of the community, their programs distribute nutritious meals and wholesome food to our neighbors who need it most. With one in eight Central Virginians struggling with hunger, Feed More’s programs aim to help our neighbors when they need a hand up.
According to Feed More, there is a large need in Central Virginia – 1 in 8 Central Virginians is food insecure, meaning that more than 193,000 of our neighbors are not receiving the necessary nutrition. And of that, more than 47,000 children, or 1 in 7, in Central Virginia do not know when or from where they will receive their next meal.
These are our neighbors who are working one or more jobs and are barely scraping enough together to get by each month. These are our neighbors who are living paycheck to paycheck when an unexpected medical expense or car trouble takes them down, depleting what little savings they have. These are our neighbors who are forced to make tough choices each month between basic necessities – pay the electricity bill or buy healthy groceries for well-balanced meals for themselves and their families.
The face of hunger has shifted dramatically during the last decade. Many Virginian’s are familiar with their programs that feed homebound seniors, but today hunger is farther-reaching and more recognizable than that and Paymerang is grateful for the opportunity to lend a hand and help those in need in our community.
