Paymerang Ends Another Tremendous Year of Growth Giving Back to the Community

Paymerang team members spent the last half of the year giving back to the community. Together, we spent 320 hours volunteering and donated $10,600 to local charities. Through it all, we demonstrated our core values, including integrity, passion and positivity, teamwork, and grit, to make a difference at various events and organizations. Below is a recap of what we’ve been up to:

August:

School Supply Drive for Glen Lea Elementary School:

Throughout August, Paymerangers collected school supplies to donate to Glen Lea Elementary School, a Title 1 school in Henrico County, Va. We collected 3,943 items that eased the burden of teachers often having to buy supplies with their own money to meet their students’ basic needs.

September:

American Red Cross Blood Drive

In September, Paymerang team members participated in the American Red Cross Blood Drive with the neighbors in our office building. According to the American Red Cross, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. Donations like this will help patients of all ages, including accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.

October:

Shalom Farms Volunteer Event

Shalom Farms is a local non-profit that operates two small farms that grow and supply produce for Richmond-area communities in USDA Food Desserts. Volunteers harvested sweet potatoes, prepared produce for shipment, put in irrigation systems, and harvested okra during this event that were donated to local food assistance programs in the central Virginia area.

Feed More BackPacks for Nourishment

Feed More is a food bank that collects, prepares and distributes food to neighbors in need across 34 cities and counties in Central Virginia. During this event, Paymerang employees filled over 850 backpacks. Children at risk of hunger receive a bag of food that is child-friendly, nutritious, and nonperishable. Partnering with local schools, Weekend BackPacks are distributed every Friday so that children have meals for when school is not in session.

November:

Thanksgiving Food Drive

In November, Paymerang team members collected 220 completed meals to donate to our neighbors in need this Thanksgiving, which roughly translated to 3,080 food items.  Meals were boxed and delivered to the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, where volunteers distributed them to local community members.

Paymerang is grateful for all the volunteer efforts we took part in last year. Events like these allow us to deliver on our commitment to a better world, and we look forward to more philanthropic events in 2023!
